April 9th review

Hello everyone this is not my normal Easter review blog, but I thought I would change it up this year.  Here are 4 movies I will be reviewing this week.

Let's start with Air, I saw this film with my daughter this past week and it is an amazing film that chronicles the signing of Michael Jordan to his first shoe deal Sonny Vaccaro.

Sonny who is played by Matt Damon is well-acted and very entertaining.  It is good to see Chris Tucker come back to movie theaters in this film and he really nails the role as Howard White who is one of the only African American agents at NIKE at the time.  Ben Affleck plays Phil Knight the notorious CEO of NIKE.

Overall the film is excellent I am just surprised it wasn't put in the December films because this could be a film that may be up for awards by the end of the year.  I would highly recommend it,  but if you are going to watch it with your family, I wouldn't because of the language throughout the film.  But for film critics, it is an amazing film.  Watch this in theaters you won't regret it.

65 is a retread of the old story a man from space crashes down on earth and tries to survive and escape the planet alive.  But this one does it very well and it is a film you can take your kids too.  I would say older kids because there are many scary Dinosaur moments throughout the film.

Dinosaurs?  What does that have to do with space and someone falling from it?  Well here is the kicker, it is Earth 65 million years ago before the dinosaurs were wiped out.

It follows the character Mills who has had to deal with past tragedy in him life and is working for a space corporation to pay for past medical bills.  He is one this ship when it is hit by an asteroid and everything goes haywire.  Him and the survivors from the ship have to find ways of how to survive and find the escape ship to get off of Earth during the Jurassic time period.

It is an interesting film, focusing on how important family can be and how the connection with each other is vital to our survival on Earth, and how it makes us who we are.  I would highly recommend please go see it as it seems it may not be in theaters much longer.

Tetris is a film unlike many of its kind.  It follows Henk Rogers who is a video game salesman in 1988.  He is trying to gain the rights to use Tetris with Nintendo so it can be sold through them and their platforms.

The film tells a story I had already heard in a documentary from the Gaming Historian on Youtube.  But as a film, it is entirely different.  This is another film that should be considered for awards later in the year.   It shows the intricacies of the USSR in the 1980s and how no one could really have intellectual property during communism.

It shows what life was really like during that time.  I was impressed by Taron Egerton's performance as Henk Rogers and the extremes Henk put himself through in order to get what he wanted.

For history buffs like me who like seeing films about the Soviet Union, it was very interesting.  The aspects of the USSR having the property that belonged to game programmers and then making money off of them can show how brutal it was under the Soviet Union.

The film also shows the struggles of the people in the Soviet Union and their fight for freedom from their oppressors.  I would recommend this film but it does have some language so be careful if you are sensitive to that.  Tetris is available on Apple TV+

Now here is our Easter fim.  In 2009 a novice pilot was asked to fly a plane when his pilot has a hear attack on the plane and dies.  This film follows Dennis Quaid as Doug White who has only done 1 hour of flight training and had been thrust into this terrible position.

This is a faith and family-based film but it doesn't have many of the story problems many of the other faith-based films have.  The story is clear and linear and includes all of the fights with doubt and faith that many Christians have.  It is also a good film to watch on Easter with your family to remember why we have Easter.  To remember God and his some Jesus Christ.  We all should want to focus on Jesus this Easter season.  You can watch this on Prime Video and I would recommend it.
