Tom Hanks stars as U.S. Navy Cmdr. Ernest Krause who is in charge of the convoy and protecting the other ships from various Uboats in the water. Krause is a very religious man who prays before he leaves his bed, before meals and also before bed. He battles the Uboats for 2 days guiding the convoy trying to protect the various ships in the Atlantic Ocean. You can really see how Hanks character really cares about his fellow soldiers. Even though this is his first voyage of this ship, he is in control but shows he has a heart for the soldiers.
One part you can see Hanks character really cares about a mess deck worker that is basically his aide. He is saddened when the mess deck worker dies and shows the true character of a leader. He wants them to be principled navy men. It gives you are a real appreciation of the Navy and the soldiers that sacrifice their lives on the open sea. We need to keep them in our prayers and thoughts and to know the sacrifice they make for us everyday.
Family friendly wise it is a good movie for everyone. It has one F bomb in the whole film. It inspires all of us to have integrity in all that we do and also to remember the fallen and those who fought in World War II. This gets 3 1/2 Karate Chops out of 4. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys war films. This is who we want to be as a country we should strive to live up to the standard that U.S. Commander Krause held himself to, in order for a better life and country.
