Equalizer 3

 



Hello folks Equalizer 3 came out this weekend.  It is a complex and fun action film.  The beginning of this film is a little gruesome but it is in the tradition of the franchise.  I expected this film to suck just like Rambo 5.  But it surprised me in an unbelievable way.  

This film has everything.  It has action, substance, and meaning that you may not find in any other action film.  It piggybacks on the second film.  Mccall is played by the Academy Award-winning actor of Denzel Washington.  He goes on a job in Sicily and is injured and eventually passes out on the side of the road in his car.  He is taken to a doctor's house in a small Italian town.  

He heals from his wounds after 3 days and starts to make a life for himself here in this small town in Italy.  When he finally finds peace trouble shows up. He discovers there is a group in town terrorizing the townspeople.  He then has a choice to make, whether to stay out of the problems of the town or get involved.  I will leave that up to you to go see this film.  The only thing that may keep people from going to it would be the violence, the language, and the subtitles.  If you think you can bear those three things then I would recommend it to anyone. 
 
There is a scene when Denzel is speaking to a CIA agent and asks about miracles.  Many Christian themes throughout the film.  I have seen them in all three films.  There are many Catholic references and other references to the church.  The themes of Christ, God, and Mary are throughout the film.  These films are about paying for your sins, finding peace, and being the hand of God. We all need to see past the references that bother us about the church and know that God can work through anyone and anything.  Many of us would love to take out the bad guys but sometimes you need a bad good guy like Robin Hood to save the day.

Bob Marley ONE LOVE

Now I know this is a little late but I saw this with my daughter on Valentine's Day.  I was my daughter's date.  I know she doesn't like me saying that but that is exactly what I was.  My wife was tired from work so I reluctantly agreed to go see this film about Bob Marley.  I had known the background of Bob Marley and that he died around 1980.  But it was still interesting to see his life on the big screen and see the beginnings of his iconic album EXODUS.  It also shows the relationship between him and his wife.   She stayed with him even though he had children with other women she still stuck by him.  Now that is a real woman.  The more I watched the film, the more I missed Haiti and the life I had there with my wife and family.  It made me remember when I first was dating my wife and how gitty we were for each other.   This film is interesting and was done under the supervision of Ziggy Marley who is Bob Marley's son, who is also one of the producers of the film.  Y

Land of Bad

This new film is now out in theaters.  For those of you who like Black Hawk Down and Asian action films, this may be up your alley.  There are 5 soldiers assigned to go into the bush of the Philippines to rescue one of their own.  It is up to the soldiers and one JSAT soldier who helps them control the drones above them.   This film has the Hemsworth brothers in a film together.  Liam is the main character called "Playboy and he makes sure that the drones land where they should on the ground.  Luke plays one of the other soldiers in the group.   This is an action-packed film that will keep you on the edge of your seat.  I really enjoyed the action sequences and the relationships with the soldiers with each other.  They tease the new fish but when they are in the thick of things they are all brothers.  The themes in this film are iconic.  The element of brotherhood for the soldiers and the sense of family is hinted throughout the film.  The one who steals the show is Russell Crowe

Godzilla x King Kong a new empire

  I saw this film a few weeks ago and I guess I figured it was time to do a review of it.  The film has amazing visuals and incredilble action scenes.  But it struggles with making a coherent story and makes you wonder if this new universe or whatever you call this new world of King Kong and Godzilla world will really work in the future.   It makes you wonder about the film and where it is going.  It felt like a action packed film but lacked the mystery and wonder of the original films.  But it is the second film in the franchise maybe the next film will give more coherence to the entire story.   See you at the movies.
