City of Lies Review

Hello everyone,  normally I don't write a review right after watching a film but I did this time because it deserves it.  I just have always had a suspicion about the 2Pac and Biggie Wallace murders.  This film just brings out the corruption in the L.A. Police Department.  It just is so captivating on the investigation of the murders and where one man would go to uncover the truth.  The story follows Jack Johnson interviewing Henry Poole to find out information about how Christopher "Biggie" Wallace was killed.  Jack Johnson is played by Forest Whitaker and Henry Poole is played by Johnny Depp.  This film goes into what the police department was like during that time.  It shows all of the corruption of the LAPD and the influence record producer Marion Hugh "Suge" Knight Jr. had on the department.

This film reminds me of L.A. confidential and also the Spotlight with  the corruption, and how a newspaper reporter was able to uncover information about the police department through only one source.  I would recommend this to anyone who likes police investigation movies and anyone who is interested in what happened to Tupac Shakur and Christopher "Biggie" Wallace.

There is a lot of language in this film so I would not recommend this to anyone who can't handle the language or has a problem with violence or shooting violence.  It is not family friendly but it show the true life of how it was in Los Angeles then and how it never has really changed.

This film pays tribute to two very talented artist who were taken too soon.  Biggie didn't want to hurt anyone but they still killed him,  Sometimes others don't want you to get ahead they just want you to go down to their level.  That is what I think happened to Biggie and Tupac.  Jealous people who wanted to get what they had eventually led to their demise.

There is so much corruption and hate going around everywhere.  We need to be like Biggie in saying "I would never wish death on nobody."  It is so easy to write people off because who we think they are or who they will be.  But do we think what those individuals families and friends of that person would say if they weren't hear anymore.  We need to be individuals who see beyond color and music types to be examples to the future generations.  Show the love of Christ to those in need and those who need him that is thebottom line.  Peace out and God Bless
